User Needs: Seeking an intuitive functional object that complements a quiet, creative environment like a library or a modern home.

Concept

Brief Description

An organic-form DAB radio that merges product semantics with tactile interaction, designed to function as both a high-quality audio device and a modern interior sculpture.

Core

Product Semantics: The design utilizes soft, organic lines inspired by nature to convey traits of Luxury and Approachability, making the technology feel warm and accessible.

Tactile Interaction: Prioritizes the physical sensation of the user experience, focusing on the weight, texture, and physical feedback of the controls.

Semantic Clarity: Engineered to intuitively communicate its purpose through its form, ensuring that users can understand and operate the device without a complex manual.

Ideation

Manufacture & Iteration

Object Autopsy: The project started by disassembling a traditional radio to map out the internal electronic components and understand the acoustic requirements of the speaker system.

Acoustic Optimization: Conducted research to ensure that the semi-circular organic shell did not compromise sound propagation or audio fidelity.
